What is the mountains?

Mountains are large landforms that rise high above the surrounding landscape and are characterized by steep slopes, rugged terrain, and high elevation. They are generally formed through tectonic activity, such as the collision of continental plates or volcanic eruptions.

The highest mountain in the world is Mount Everest, which stands at 29,029 feet (8,848 meters) in the Himalayas. Other famous mountain ranges include the Andes in South America, the Rockies in North America, the Alps in Europe, and the Himalayas in Asia.

Mountains are home to a diverse range of plant and animal species, including many that are unique to high-altitude environments. They also play important roles in regulating climate, providing water resources, and supporting human activities such as agriculture, forestry, and tourism. However, they are also vulnerable to a range of environmental pressures, including climate change, deforestation, and overexploitation of natural resources.
